Right Angle D Sub (Low Profile)

This overmolded cable is a little more complex then it may appear.

We were faxed a drawing from a Beldon catalog and told that they would like a cable just like this one except for one thing.

The Problem:

The mechanical design for this PLC cabinet was complete; however when they put the prototype together it was not possible to shut the rear door because the cable assembly was sticking out too far! Consequently, it was not possible to use a standard 90 degree D-Sub connector for this overmolded assembly.

The Solution:

What we did was use a printed circuit card to mount a shorter connector to the board, thus allowing for a sharp 90-degree turn. This overmolded cable is completely shielded for RFI and EMI before the over molding process.

This is probably the narrowest profile you will find for a 90 degree overmolded cable anywhere on the market.
